Matt Foman (on the right) is the Director of the Mental Health Committee and serves. He is a junior from St. Paul, Minnesota majoring in Health and Societies. In addition to DAB, Matt spends his time teaching dance to West Philly elementary schoolers as a member of CityStep, interning for Hillel’s Jewish Renaissance Project, and as an associate editor of the Penn Bioethics Journal. He is also a peer advisor for the College as well as Sigma Alpha Mu’s philanthropy chair. Coming from the tundra, Matt enjoys everything snow/ice related, from hockey to skiing to snowman building.
This is Matt’s 3rd year on DAB. He has spent much of this year on the mental health subcommittee working with CAPS to expand the I CARE training program, which informs students about mental health resources on campus and guides them on how to recognize and support peers facing mental health crises with care and compassion. So far, this training has been brought to the Greek community, and a training session will be taking place at the end of April with participants from almost every chapter on campus. Matt has enjoyed watching DAB grow and evolve since he was a freshman, and looks forward to seeing it continue to tackle important issues affecting Penn’s College students at the student body as a whole.
